What is 3D Gaussian splatting?
3D Gaussian splatting is a new type of rendering process. In contrast to traditional polygon meshes, it is based on the projection of thousands of small, transparent points (so-called “Gaussians”) in 3D space. Each of these points contains information about position, color, size and density. The superimposition of these points creates a dense, realistic image.
