House of participation
Make participation tangible
In today's rapidly changing world, it is more crucial than ever for individuals to engage in meaningful decision-making across various domains: from the workplace to social circles, cultural sectors, and, above all, political arenas. To achieve a vibrant democracy and a thriving society, we must leverage digitalization as a powerful tool for active participation.
The House of Participation (HOP) envisions a future where digital engagement is at the forefront of public affairs. This initiative aims to foster participation within all levels of the public sector, including governing bodies, organizations, corporations, and the fields of technology development and innovation. Our focus is on the essential research, design, development, and evaluation of effective digital participation processes and platforms.
On Tuesday, December 3, 2024, a pivotal roundtable discussion convened at the Research Center for Information Technology (FZI) in Berlin, showcasing the innovative VIRTUS project. Zebralog and notable experts from the XR industry came together to explore the vast potential for citizen participation. The theme of the roundtable, "Bringing Participation to Life," highlighted the importance of developing prototypes that can transform how we engage in participatory processes. With collective efforts, we can turn this vision into reality and empower communities to shape their futures.
.
PROJECT VIRTUS
How participatory should participation research be? How can methods and tools for citizen participation be (further) developed sustainably?
.
The Added Value of VR Training
It makes participation tangible! VR Training also adds more factual and visual knowledge about citizen participation. The framework and the hardware create more motivation to design and try out participation formats with VR and AR. It promotes the development of prototypes for use in participation processes.

Which formats, methods or research are needed?
• defining
What are the needs?
• designing
What requirements do they need to fulfill?
• building
How can we implement the requirement?
• evaluating
Are requirements fulfilled?
