He has been the CEO of Brand Eins AG since March 2021. Prior to this, he held several key positions at the Frankfurt Book Fair, most recently as Vice President. Transforming analogue businesses into the digital world is one of this digitalisation expert’s life missions.
Born in 1970, he is, by a generous interpretation, still considered a digital native. He publishes and gives lectures on responsible technological growth, digital transformation, and boardroom diversity. At Brand Eins, he writes the newsletter “Digitalization with Backbone” and leads the company as CEO.
He is also a sought-after speaker and the author of the book "The Creative Power of Machines". Over the course of 25 years, this digital strategist has gained in-depth knowledge of technological change worldwide. This includes his time at one of Germany’s first multimedia agencies, Pixelpark, in Berlin and New York, as well as his roles as director of the New Economy Business School and founder of his own agency. He also founded the cultural festival THE ARTS+. In his role as vice president of the Frankfurt Book Fair, he supported the digital transformation of companies and institutions.
Holger Volland owes his professional development to his background. His mother, a bookseller by trade, instilled in him a love of reading, while his father, one of Germany’s first programmers, sparked his interest in the digital world.
